A game-changing app for financial insights

The challenge

Deutsche Bank is a market leader in the highly competitive cash management, trade finance and securities services industries. The bank needed to stand out as a trusted authority while delivering timely insights on the latest industry trends to stakeholders across 190 countries.

Collaborating with our client’s expert team of writers, we designed flow, a biannual magazine offering comprehensive analyses of the latest macroeconomic and industry trends. To complement it, the flow website was launched to extend its reach. In 2020, recognising the need to evolve and digitise, our client wanted to enhance the accessibility of its insights. The goal was to transform the way its business audience consumed and experienced the bank’s content through an app.

Our fearless approach

We designed and launched the innovative flow app in Spring 2021, optimising it for both Apple and Android devices and ensuring seamless user experiences on phones and tablets. Differentiating the app was vital, but so was maintaining flow’s position as the go-to source for critical insights and themes from across the industry.

The flow app was designed with a vibrant, dynamic interface to showcase the bank’s latest articles. Our creative approach and innovation included advanced functionality allowing users to browse offline, bookmark articles and receive real-time notifications about new content. Sharing content via the app was made effortless, while its intuitive search tool allows busy executives to explore content by topic, creating personalised experiences.

The impact

The flow app has emerged as a game-changer for Deutsche Bank Corporate Bank, with its true impact clear from the download figures. The target was 2,000 app downloads after six months. We hit 1,000 downloads in just two weeks. And within 3 months we’d reached our target.

Since then, take-up of the flow app has shown no signs of slowing. To date, it’s been downloaded more than 6,000 times.
